It does work, but I still think it was a a collisal mistake. It will kill many Marine pilots before they give up on it. Consider the wing stress when the engines go vertical. I don't know how they mount them, but the mounts will most likely wear out quickly. When the Harrier VSTOL came out it was nicknamed the "widow maker," as was the F-11, and not this. The F-35 is a disaster waiting to happen.

nice shot. these type of VTOLS worry me a bit, like what happens if a blade shears off when flying forward and the blades are facing forward.
